SASHINUNGLA, Ph.D.
 

Dr. Sashinungla received her Ph.D. in Philosophy from The North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong. She joined Jadavpur University as Lecturer in Philosophy in February 2005.

After qualifying the NET in 2000, Dr. Sashinungla was selected Junior Research Fellow under the Indian Council of Philosophical Research. She worked as Junior Research Fellow, Ford Foundation, under its folklore research programme in Shillong for the period 1999-2001.

Dr. Sashinungla’s research interests lie in the areas of Eco-Philosophy, Cultural Philosophy and Folklore. She has also researched on insurgency and conflict, terrorism and peace issues. Outside her research areas, she is interested in the Philosophy of Language as well as women and child issues.

Apart from Philosophy, Dr. Sashinungla has many interests and a wide array of experiences. As a member of CANTARE, Guwahati – a chorus founded by a few committed individuals for the purpose of bringing good music to the city and to raise funds for charitable purposes – Dr. Sashinungla made several performances in choral music in the western tradition. She has acted as Matron, Fazl Ali College Girls’ Hostel, Mokokchung, Nagaland during 1994-95. She was the General Secretary of the Evangelical Union of India,  Mokokchung district unit during the same period and has also worked as a child worker for the Ao Baptist Church Council, Khensa, Mokokchung, in Nagaland during 1991-93.
