Professor Roy obtained the degree of Ph.D. from Jadavpur University and joined Jadavpur University in 1970. Her research interests lie in the areas of Hermeneutics, Phenomenology, Existentialism, Social and Political Philosophy: Indian and Western. Professor Roy is also interested in contemporary Indian thought. She is a member of the Indian Council of Philosophical Research, New Delhi, as the representative of the University Grants Commission and a member of the Centre for Aurobindo Studies, Jadavpur University. Professor Roy has published innumerable articles during her long and fruitful academic career and has lectured in many refresher courses and other academic meets all over the country and abroad. She was a Fullbright Fellow to the USA in 1995, an exchange visitor to Paris under the Indo-French Exchange Programme in 1998. She has also presented a paper in the 18th World Congress of Philosophy at Brighton, England in 1988. Here are some of her significant books:
