CHHANDA GUPTA, Ph.D.
 

Professor Gupta obtained the degree of Ph.D. from the University of Calcutta in 1972 and joined the Department of Philosophy, Jadavpur University as Lecturer in 1977.

She has had a long and successful teaching and research career, which includes a UGC Research Associateship at the Department of Philosophy, Jadavpur University from 1975 to 1977, an ICPR General Fellowship during 1985-86 and most significantly, a Fulbright Fellowship at Harvard University in 1985 and once again in1995. She has been Member of the Indian Council of Philosophical Research (ICPR) since 2002 (2002-2005).

Professor Gupta’s research interests lie in areas as wide as Metaphysics, Epistemology, Philosophy of Science and Social Philosophy.

She has presented research papers in innumerable seminars, conferences and workshops and lectured in various Refresher Courses in Universities in Calcutta and outside. She has also organized a number of important seminars, Refresher Courses and talks by eminent philosophers from all over the world.
